5 Ways Coffee Can Make You More Gorgeous

by Corinne Shoemaker

While the high caffeine content of America’s favorite pick-me-up makes some wary of overdoing it (as they should be – especially if prone to acne), there are a number of surprising ways it can be used to  improve both your health and appearance. Read on to learn what they are so you can add more coffee to your life!

1. It Can Give Your Hair A Richer Color

Just as chamomile tea can brighten blonde hair, so can coffee enrich a brunette’s hair color. All you have to do is combine coffee grounds with water until it becomes a paste and apply it to freshly washed hair. Your hair color will improve and, as an extra benefit of coffee’s acidity, your cuticles will be smoother, giving your hair added shine.

    2. It Can Reduce Eye Puffiness

Caffeine is a wonderful solution to your under-eye woes. By dehydrating and constricting the blood vessels that create under-eye bags, you will appear more alert. It can also temporarily soften dark circles.

      3. It Can Be Used To Exfoliate Your Scalp

Though we usually limit exfoliation to our skin, it’s very beneficial to exfoliate your hair and scalp on occasion. It can be used to eliminate dandruff and environmental buildup, as well as to produce shine. Simply massage one third cup of ground coffee onto your wet scalp, then rinse. Follow it up with shampoo and conditioner.

        5. It Improves Blood Circulation

Maximize the benefits of running an ice cube over your face by adding coffee. You will increase the blood circulation in your skin while enjoying all the benefits of coffee’s skin-brightening content, which brings us to #5…

          6. It Brightens Your Skin

This effect is created by drinking coffee, but it is maximized if you apply it externally. Using a coffee scrub creates both a chemical (thanks to its acid content) and physical exfoliating effect that will empty your pores and help eliminate lines – all while strengthening the protective barrier of your skin. This means that it helps you protect against harmful viruses and bacteria, allowing you to stay healthy and gorgeous. To make the scrub yourself, just combine soaked coffee grounds with Epsom salts and gently exfoliate your skin, then rinse with lukewarm water. Be sure to follow it up with a moisturizer.
