The Answers to Your Worst Makeup Woes

by Corinne Shoemaker

If your makeup is giving you trouble, chances are there’s an easy solution! Read on to learn five common cosmetics problems and how to fix them.

1. Your skin flares up after applying foundation.

Bacteria is likely to blame in this situation. This is because liquid formulas, which often contain water, are breeding grounds for microbes if you touch it with fingers or a brush. We recommend only using liquid foundations that can be poured from a tube or a pump.

2. Your eyes sting after applying eye shadow.

This is a result of loose powders creating a cloud of particles during application which settles in your eyes. The fix is easy: just stick to pressed powders or cream!

3. Your lips dry out from your lipstick.

The kind of lipstick that dries out your lips contains powders that act as a barrier, preventing moisture from reaching your skin. Luckily, with lipstick like Beauty Addicts’ Beautifull Lips Lipstick (which is formulated with hydrating ingredients like shea butter and jojoba oil), you never have to worry about your lips becoming dehydrated!

4. Your eyes tear up when wearing mascara.

Mascara is the fastest cosmetic to expire – you should generally stop using it twelve weeks after opening the bottle. This will keep dry particles from breaking off of your lashes and into your eyes. If you need help remembering when to replace your mascara, just write the date you opened it on the side of the tube.

5. Your face feels itchy after a manicure.

Lacquer found in nail polish contains irritating chemicals that can trigger a rash on your skin if you touch it after getting your nails done. If you struggle with this problem, you need what are called “3 free” formulas which are made with more gentle ingredients. Check the label the next time you’re shopping for polish.
