How to Keep Your Hair From Looking frizzy

by Angela lagrimas

Frizzy hair can be a major downer. At times, it seems like out of nowhere your hair just decides to become frizzy. However, it is actually quite easy to understand the process behind frizzy hair. When your hair becomes dry, its outer layer lifts up. Moisture then has an opportunity to get under the hair, which causes it to puff up. With time, the hair begins to break off.

Use a Sulfate Free Shampoo.

When choosing a shampoo, go for a product that is full of glycerin and free of sulfates. The glycerin is an important part of any shampoo. It penetrates the hair and hydrates it from within. Besides that, it creates a protective outer layer that prevents the hair from breaking.

Use Conditioner.

To fight frizz, you will need to get as much moisture in the hair to prevent the cuticle from opening up. Thus, look for a good quality conditioner that has glycerin as one of the ingredients. One of the best products for this purpose is Pureology Curl Complete Conditioner. Additionally, it contains coconut oil, which is an important ingredient in keeping the hair moist.

Use conditioner to Clean Hair instead of Shampoo.

If you are having serious problems with frizz, you should use conditioner instead of shampoo. Apply the conditioner and then rinse it out after about ten minutes using cold water. The conditioner contains less surfactant than shampoo. Thus, it will clean your hair without stripping it of the essential oils that keep it healthy.

Towel Dry Your Hair before using a Blow Dryer.

When you come out of the shower, towel-dry your hair and ensure that you get most of the water out. It has been shown that blow-drying hair, which has a lot of water, could dehydrate the strands. This is especially so during the winter. If possible, avoid using the blow dryer in the winter. It causes a lot of damage to the hair, which leads to frizz.

Brush Your Hair Often.

The main reason you need to brush your hair is to get the natural oil to spread throughout your hair.  Hang your head upside down when brushing the hair. It helps to move the oils from the root to the rest of the hair. The oils will help in blocking out any moisture, which could cause frizz.

Always carry A Product in Your Purse.

When you are out and about, your hair will no doubt become affected by the elements. That is why it is important for you to carry a hair spray with you when you travel. One of the best sprays for this purpose is Firewall Argan Hot Tools Spray by AG Hair Cosmetics. Spray it from the ends midway. However, keep it from the roots to prevent them from becoming oily.

Treat you Hair with Warm Oil.

Heat some natural olive oil and apply it to your hair about twice a month. The warm oil helps to replenish any oils that are lost from your hair when you use shampoo on it. Let the oil set in the hair for about an hour before washing it off. Do not be too aggressive when trying to wash out the oil. Any oil that remains can still be useful in keeping your hair frizz free.

Avoid doing too Much to It.

If you are dealing with frizzy hair, avoid using straighteners, relaxers, and coloring. All of these products lead to breakage of the frizzy hair. Until you treat the frizz, keep away from using too many products on your hair as it could make the problem worse.
