3 Simple Ways to Wear Your Hair with a Hat

by Corinne Shoemaker

From beanies to ear muffs, with winter here, you’re probably going to wind up with a lot of things on your head to keep warm. Don’t let it mess with your ‘do! Read on to learn three fabulous ways to wear your hair with a hat.

1. Side ponytail with a fishtail braid effect.

Create a side ponytail and pull the hair above your elastic apart, creating a hole so that you can pull your ponytail through it. Add another elastic about 1.5 inches below the first, repeating the previous steps. Pin your bangs back if you have them and put on your hat or beanie. If you are wearing a beanie, don’t pull it down over your forehead – leave about half an inch of hair along your forehead for a cute look that shows more of your beautiful face.

2. Four-strand braid.

Create a side ponytail, but this time separate it into four equal sections. Take the first section and weave it over the next section, under the section following it, and over the last remaining section. Repeat this technique with each section, leaving about an inch of hair at the end and tie it with an elastic. Again, if wearing a beanie, consider leaving a bit of hair along your forehead.

3. Curved waves.

Start by spritzing your hair with heat protectant we like Kenra's Professional Thermal Styling Spray 19. Next, take a 1.5-inch curing iron on low heat and use it to grab a section of hair at the midshaft. Twist the iron toward your face and gently pull it down toward your ends. Hold it for just a few seconds, then release it.  This will create a wave that curves in toward your face a-la Jennifer Anniston.
