How to Make Wavy Hair Curly

by Corinne Shoemaker

With the right tools and techniques, it’s easy to go from wavy hair to gorgeous curls! Read on to learn how.

1. Oil your strands.

Our hair is constantly at risk of drying out when we aren’t careful with it – the sun, the products we use, and the temperature we set on our styling tools all pose a threat to our strands. That’s why the trick to attaining gorgeous, shiny curls is keeping your strands moisturized. Take your favorite hair oil (we like PRAVANA’s Nevo Hydra Pearl Replenishing Hair Oil) and apply it from your scalp to your ends once a week, leaving it in your hair overnight and washing it out in the morning. Your locks will become noticeably more bouncy overtime.

2. Don’t go overboard with conditioner.

As important as hydration is for your hair, it can weigh down on your curls if you overdo it. Focus your conditioner like DevaCurl's One Condition Ultra Creamy Daily Conditioner on the ends of your hair instead of your scalp and don’t skip shampooing!

3. Part and curl your hair.

Part your hair however you like -- in the center or off to either side of your scalp. Next, take a curling iron and begin styling your hair, alternating the direction of your curls (this helps make them look more natural). You also want to leave your ends out of the iron.

4. Add volume.

To give your new curls more bounce, pick up sections of your hair and apply a volumizing spray like DevaCurl's Flexible-Hold Hair Spray. This will help make your hair appear even more curly and well-done.

That’s all there is to it! If you can think of anyone else who might find this article useful, please share it.
