From Gym to Glam: Post-Workout Haircare Essentials

by Brianna Thompson

Hey there, fitness enthusiasts and glam gurus! We all love hitting the gym, breaking a sweat, and feeling the burn. But let’s be real, sometimes our hair doesn’t exactly cooperate with our post-workout glow. Fear not, because today, I'm spilling all the secrets on how to transform those sweaty locks into fabulous, camera-ready hair, along with some product suggestions to keep your mane looking on point.

1. Rinse and Refresh:

After your workout, start by rinsing your hair with lukewarm water. This helps remove sweat and any buildup without stripping your hair of its natural oils. If you’re short on time, a quick rinse will do wonders to revive your locks.

2. Choose the Right Shampoo and Conditioner:

Selecting the right shampoo and conditioner is key to maintaining healthy hair post-workout. Look for products that are gentle, hydrating, and suitable for your hair type. If you’re prone to dryness, opt for moisturizing formulas, while those with oily hair may benefit from clarifying shampoos.

Shampoo

A great option for post workout is the K18 Peptide Prep Detox shampoo.

K18's Peptide Prep Detox Shampoo is a high-performance hair care product that deeply cleanses and detoxifies hair from product buildup, excess sebum, and copper using advanced peptide technology and natural ingredients. By removing up to 99% of product buildup, 95% of sebum, and 76% of copper, this shampoo repairs and protects hair from the inside out.

Conditioner

For conditioner, aim for something hydrating. This may vary from hair type to hair type. So here are two options for fine and thick hair types of any texture:

FIne hair: Thickening conditioner add plump to the strands, adds hydration, without weighing down. One good one in particular is the Verb Ghost Conditioner.

Thick hair: There are many options for thick hait, however a versatile one that I love is the Moxee mask by Suddz

3. Don’t Skip the Detangler:

Post-workout tangles are no joke, especially if you’ve been rocking a high-intensity sweat session. Invest in a good detangling spray or leave-in conditioner to smooth out knots and prevent breakage. Trust me, your hair will thank you later. Here are some of my favorite detangler options!

Unite 7 Second Detangler -  Within 7 seconds your tangles will be gone and your hair will start to feel alive again. Nourished and fortified with the perfect balance of light protein and moisturizers, 7 Seconds seals the cuticle and protects your hair all day long. A must for chemically treated hair and as a UV and thermal protector for all. Against animal testing.

Milkshake Leave in Conditioner-  Milk_shake incredible milk is an intense leave-in spray mask hair treatment that performs twelve actions: protects hair from UV rays; repairs all hair types; maintains color; protects from heat; detangles; maintains hair style; adds maximum shine; creates body and volume; controls frizz; banishes and prevents split ends; easy straightening; smoothes the cuticle.

4. Embrace Dry Shampoo:

Dry shampoo is a lifesaver for those days when you’re in a rush or don’t have time to wash your hair post-workout. Spritz some dry shampoo onto your roots, then massage it in to absorb excess oil and add volume. It’s the secret weapon for fresh-looking hair on-the-go.  My personal favorite is the IGK First Class Dry Shampoo.

The IGK FIRST CLASS Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo is a powerful hair care product that deeply cleanses your hair and scalp using charcoal powder and oil-absorbing ingredients. It effectively removes impurities, excess oil, and odor, making it a great choice for those with oily hair or scalp. Additionally, the dry shampoo leaves a refreshing scent that eliminates unpleasant odors.

5. Protect and Style:

Before reaching for any heat styling tools, make sure to apply a heat protectant spray to shield your strands from damage. Whether you’re blow-drying, straightening, or curling, protecting your hair should always be a priority. And if you’re going for a sleek or voluminous look, a lightweight styling cream or serum can work wonders. You can use a quick dry heat protectant or use one oof the leave in conditioners above that also have heat protection. Double protection is always great!
